Vintage Coastal in a new build

My work is all about reviving old pieces and designing existing spaces into something pretty and practical.  This time, I got to refresh and repurpose for a brand new build!  How exciting!  I usually like everything old, but there's something so thrilling about a brand spanking new house!

The room the homeowner wanted my help with is a sunny guest room with Plantation shutters that looks out to their pool.  The walls are a soft and light seafoamy gray green. I helped her outfit the room with vintage pieces she already owned and a special pair of bedside tables assembled from existing elements.

Take a look!

Here are the shutters that set the tone for the coastal feel in the room.

Here, the cherry bed, which came from LaVintage Decor, got washed in Fluff from Dixie Belle Paints, and distressed with gray and black wax.  The bed is flanked by shutters, decorative shelf brackets, shelf and light fixtures; all used, refreshed with paint and assembled to form bedside tables complete with lighting provided by a simple Edison bulb.  The shutters keep the room casual as they appear to lean against the wall.  I had fun designing them!

There's still plenty of room under the shelf for a basket if extra storage is desired.

The dressers belonged to the homeowner and were a lighter stained wood, a little worse for wear.  Fluff and Mason Dixon Gray from Dixie Belle paints, were chosen for the transformation.  Most of the original knobs were kept and repainted, while new glass knobs from Rustic Brands, replaced the top knobs.  Dixie Belle paint and Rustic Brands Reproduction Hardware are both sold at LaVintage Decor Studio, Antiques & Gifts.

It's a wrap!  All that's left is for the homeowners to enjoy and settle in their new home!  It feels a little warmer when there are vintage pieces mixed in with the new.
